Geared for market expansion with new webshop solution
In 2020, Nordisk Garn was acquired by one of our long-standing customers. In connection with the acquisition, the new owners wanted to move the existing webshop to our web space, which we quickly implemented. The webshop functioned well for a few years, but due to the significant growth in sales, it became clear that the existing platform could not meet the increased demand. Therefore, in 2022, we initiated a dialogue about a complete re-establishment of the webshop with the main focus on conversion optimisation and the possibility of scaling to new markets, including Germany, Sweden, England and the Netherlands, which we started shortly after.
The new webshop needed to be optimised in terms of design, with a focus on presenting all product variants on the category pages so that users could easily and quickly add desired variants directly to the basket. For returning customers, they wanted to implement a quickshop function where it would be possible to select variants based on variant names directly from the category page, which would make the buying process more efficient.
In addition, they wanted to introduce the sale of "Knit-Yourself Wool Packs," where customers could choose a pattern, colour combination and size. The system would then automatically calculate and add the correct amount of yarn in the chosen colours directly to the basket.
With these wishes as a starting point, we began the development of the new webshop. Along the way, we implemented a wide range of features, all designed to optimise sales. You can read more about the specific solutions further down the page.

Wool packs - Knit it yourself
One of Nordisk Garn's biggest requests was the development of the aforementioned "Knit-yourself Wool Packs" - a feature that could not be realised with standard software solutions. Therefore, we developed a customised solution that precisely met their specific needs.
When the user selects a specific knitting pattern, they are given the option to choose from predefined colour combinations, which can also be customised as desired. In addition, the user can select the size of the chosen pattern and the system automatically adjusts the number of balls of yarn to match the correct amount of yarn needed for the chosen size. This way, the user can easily and quickly add a fully customised wool package to the shopping cart with just a few clicks.
02
Quickshop
We have significantly enhanced the user experience by implementing a quickshop feature that allows users to select variants and add products to the shopping basket directly from the category pages. This improvement therefore allows the user to place a complete order without leaving the category page, after which they can easily proceed to checkout.
03
Automatic language translation and currency
To meet the growing demand from international markets, we have established the webshop in five countries so far, each with country-specific payment methods and shipping rules. As there is extensive text content, especially on the category and product pages, we have chosen to implement automated language layers directly on the webshop. This eliminates most of the manual processes associated with translation. With this solid foundation, we can now quickly launch even more language layers in the future and open up the webshop to additional markets.
We have also developed the webshop to integrate language and currency, which means that prices are automatically displayed in the relevant currency for each language. For example, prices are displayed in EUR on the German site and SEK on the Swedish site, creating a more localised experience for users.
